posterdunk.jpgThe 2008 9th Annual Atlanta Classic presented by Asianballers.net

The Atlanta Classic is the longest running major tournament in the state of Georgia and the South. This tournament is reaching its 10 year anniversary. For the the 10th Annual Atlanta Classic there are going to some big celebrations and suprises for next year! But next week's tournament on August 9th is coming soon! Like the past Atlanta Classics its going to be the most competitive tournament in the South!

With some of the top teams and players from around the nation, the Classic has showcased top asian players like Xiro, Tony Akins, Southstar, Bo Noung, Lou Cha, Benny Batoon, Billy Kim, Atif Sajid, Ephraim Balactas, and many more just to name a few. Players and teams have made a name for themselves here at this tournament. Teams from all over the country have flocked here to test if they are the real deal. If you can win the Atlanta Classic, you can win anywhere in the country! Thats because the level of competiition is always top notch basketball. Just ask the past winners like Team Ohio, Team Oklahoma, and the Teddy Bears. Their has only  been one repeat champion. The Teddy Bears won back to back in 2004 and 2005.

The Atlanta Classic has had many memorable moments, but its success is due to the players and teams from around the country getting to know each and playing ball in a competitive atmosphere. And if you don't bring your "A" game you will definetly be regreting it all the way home. Team Jacksonville found that out last year in the championship game against Team Oklahoma, who is the 2007 defending champs! The Atlanta Classic's most memorable moment might be Scappy Duu's player Vechat Nhep's poster dunk in the 2006 Classic. So are you ready to put your mark on in the Atlanta Classic!

Our picks this year to reach the championship game is Atlanta's own Atl Outkasts and Team Jacksonvile. The Outkasts is currently dominating the Atlanta Summer League and have added Tony Akins (former Georgia Tech guard) to their already talented roster. Their achilles heel has always been the rival Teddy Bears from Atlanta also. We think this is their year to get to next level. Team Jacksonville finished second last year in the Classic and are looking hungry to take home the trophy! But we think that the Atl Outkasts is going to send them back home dissapointed again this year if they did not improve their roster any.

Our Atlanta Classic Final Four Picks

Team Houston
Team Jacksonville
Team Oklahoma
Atl Outkasts
