Team Japan competed in the UBA Playoff Classic over the weekend and got a rude welcome. I don't think
Team Japan were prepared for the professional talent in the United States. Competing against players ranging from
6'5-6'11 at all positions, Team Japan could not match up at all. Not just height & size, the US players were
faster, stronger, and just more talented highflyers that played above the rim.
I'm not sure if they came to
win or just play ball. But it was an embarassment to asian basketball for asian americans. Next time there is an event like
this I will make sure we have asian americans competing instead of foreigners. But on that note, we want to thank them for
coming anyways. Besides they came all the way from Japan. We hope they take back the experience and improve their game. When
you are playing at the pro level, you've got to bring it or get embarassed!
We hope to get more asian american
interest to play on some all-asian pro teams to represent better for asian americans against pro-level competition. Tryouts
are on July 25th so we hope to see you there!
